Laurie Anderson was born in Chicago in 1947. She had eight children in her family and loved to play the violin. She graduated in 1969 from Barnard College in New York. She then went on to study at Columbia university working toward a graduate degree in sculpture. When she was a little girl she would always type away on her dads typewritter. She loved watching her father write poetry and reading in his office. She fell in love with writting when her second grade teacher taught her how to write haikus. During her teens, she decided she wanted to become a writter for children and young adults. Since then she had written many books like: Fever 1973, Speak, and Twisted. She has won many awards for writting 'Fever 1973' including:
The New York Public Library "Best 2001 Books for the Teenage"
2001 Teacher's Choice, International Reading Association
